Design & Craftsmanship

The reverse portrays an adult koala climbing a tree with a dependent joey clinging securely to its back, capturing the close bond between mother and young high among the branches of its natural habitat.

Designed by Ing Ing Jong, the reverse also incorporates the inscription KOALA, The Perth Mint's traditional P mintmark, the 2023 year-date, and the coin's 1/10oz 9995 PLATINUM weight and purity declaration.

The obverse features Jody Clark's effigy of Queen Elizabeth II together with the dates 1952–2022.
