Brisbane Bullion is proud to present the 2024 1/2oz Silver Lunar Series III Year of the Dragon Ten-Coin Set from The Perth Mint.

Fit for an emperor, this magnificent Year of the Dragon celebration comprises ten 1/2oz Australian Lunar silver coins with designs inspired by art seen on imperial Chinese dragon screens.

Reputedly the oldest chronological record in history, the ancient Chinese Lunar Calendar dates back beyond 2,600 BC. Based on the appearance of the new moon, it associates a different animal with each year in the 12-year lunar cycle. According to legend, the order of the animals in Chinese astrology was determined by their race across a river. Unknown to the ox, the mouse hitched a ride on its back, leaping to victory at the very last second. The tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig followed the quick-thinking mouse and the flabbergasted ox to dry land.

Reverse:  The set comprises nine coloured coins each portraying a sinuous dragon and a flaming pearl, a symbol of wisdom. The tenth coin, depicting a forward facing dragon with symbolic water cascading from its mouth, is entirely gilded in fine gold - an exclusive finish only available in this set. Included in each design is the Chinese character for ‘dragon’, and the inscription ‘DRAGON 2024’.

Obverse: Each coin’s obverse depicts the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The monetary denomination of "50 Cents" is displayed on the obverse of each coin.
