 This New Zealander coin issue celebrates the White Rabbit, very famous in popular culture. The White Rabbit appeared in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll in 1865, tells the story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world, populated by peculiar and anthropomorphic creatures.

The coin is part of the 2011 Lunar Year of the Rabbit Series and is legal tender in that country.
